Frick Powell was formed in March 1987, shortly after the death of William D. Powell, when the Law Office of John B. Whinrey (consisting of John B. Whinrey and Reed S. Schmitt) merged with the law firm of Frick and Powell (Garland W. Cravens, Jr., surviving partner). The Law Office of John B. Whinrey was started in March 1982. The law firm of Frick and Powell traces its history to the 1930's and Bernard "Bunny" Frick, who died in 1967. We became a limited liability partnership in January 1999. We offer a wide range of legal services, primarily concentrating in the areas of estate planning and administration, elder law, business and corporate law, real estate law, personal injury, civil litigation, and domestic relations.

At a time when "bigger" is often considered synonymous with "better," we believe you are best served by the personal attention that we are able to provide in a small office setting. This belief is reflected in our mission statement:

To provide excellent legal services to a broad range of clients, in a caring and personal way, with the highest ethical standards, at reasonable fees, in a timely and efficient manner, in a small law firm setting.

Our firm presently consists of four attorneys and seven support persons. We are not a casual affiliation of attorneys, but function as a true partnership. This allows us to focus our attention on how best to serve you and complete your legal work efficiently and effectively.

Although our firm's Victorian setting provides us with ties to an earlier and simpler era, we make a conscious effort not to be lost in the past by keeping abreast of the latest legal research and support technologies. Our law library consists not only of bound volumes and treatises but also CD-ROM, online services, internet access, and other electronic research capabilities. We have electronic access to legal opinions of all state and federal courts.

We believe it is important to be active in both the legal community and our community as a whole. We are members of the American, Indiana, and Evansville Bar Associations. We actively participate in various committees of the local bar association and two of our attorneys are past EBA presidents. We speak at seminars and programs sponsored by various organizations. We also contribute to the community by serving on the boards of directors of numerous charitable organizations and by being active in church and community organizations.

Our firm has the highest rating given by Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory, a rating service of the legal profession.

We place special emphasis on good communication and will work closely with you.
