Originally from southern Illinois, Mark is licensed to practice law in Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky and has represented clients across the tri-state region. Mark is a graduate of Murray State University (1992) and Southern Illinois University School of Law (1995), where he served as an editor of the law journal and won honors in moot court competitions. Mark began his legal career in 1995 at one of the largest firms in Evansville, where he represented clients in a variety of matters including creditor rights, insurance and commercial litigation, and labor and employment. He then joined Evansville-based Atlas Van Lines, Inc. as its corporate counsel. After realizing he missed private practice and the relationships he enjoyed with his clients, Mark joined a small specialized firm in Louisville, Kentucky, and focused almost exclusively on representing employers in labor and employment law matters. Mark joined our firm in January 2006. Mark is not satisfied in being known as a good lawyer – there are many good lawyers – but strives to act as a valued advisor and counselor to his clients. In this regard, his experience in private practice and the corporate world has been of great benefit. In private practice, Mark advised and represented the interests of his clients in a variety of courts and administrative proceedings. In his role as a corporate counsel, he worked with attorneys across the nation to help manage legal matters for his company. In short, Mark has been both lawyer and client, and these experiences allow him to see the “big picture.” Mark has served the Evansville community as a board member of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ohio Valley, Kiwanis Club, Reitz Historical Home Museum (Marketing Committee) as well as serving on the boards of the Legal Aid Society and the Vanderburgh County Law Library Association. He also formed and was the first chair of the In-House Counsel Committee of the Evansville Bar Association. Mark enjoys exercising, reading, and watching movies.
